Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble Gobble

I hope everyone has a safe, happy and fun Thanksgiving! Eat lots of food and relax a bit!

Below, are a couple turkeys I saw this past April on the Moat Mountain Trail, near the trailhead on Passaconaway Road. I hope they fared well this Thanksgiving and did not end up on a dinner table!

  1. I can honestly say that in 10s of thousands of kilometres of trail I have never come across a wild turkey. On the other hand, if Thanksgiving featured the traditional moose dinner we would be in deep trouble out here in the Rocky Mountains. Nice photos. Colourful bird.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving! What great turkey photos. You know, we have a lot of wild turkeys around here, and I've yet to see the tom turkey. I know he's got to be around here somewhere - every spring there is a big flock of hens and chicks.

  3. Turkeys are surprisingly beautiful. I just saw some photos with sun reflecting off the chest feathers of a pair of them -- gold on black, amazing! (Well, here's the link if you want to see it: http://www.lifeslittlemysteries.com/five-fascinating-turkey-truths-1172/ )

Lucky you seeing them in the wild. :D

  4. I've never seen a turkey in the wild- ever! This would totally rock my world and maybe make me feel a little guilt about eating one on thanksgiving!!

  6. Wow, what wonderful photos! Turkeys are gorgeous birds -- we have quite a few of them around our house and I love to watch them make their way through our property.

Hope you and your family had a lovely Thanksgiving.
